I live in Germany and work in IT. It is time for Christmas markets, IT freeze, and vacations. Everyone is either already on vacation or will be next week. This year I am the “last standing” man on duty and will fight all possible problems between the years from a small cabin in northern Sweden. Funny enough I will have a better Internet connection in a Swedish village with ca. 150 inhabitants middle of nowhere as in my community with ca. 10 000 inhabitants only 30 km away from Frankfurt am Main.
No technical part this time!
It would be the time to review the last year but no. I don’t feel I could do it right now. May be in January, but not now.
On the other side, I finished writing about Linux installation on IBM Power using IBM AIX NIM and there are more topics in the queue to write about. But starting a new topic before the new year?
That’s why there is no technical part in this newsletter.
I wish you…
If you celebrate Christmas, I wish you a merry Christmas time!
I wish you a happy new year!
Next year will bring many technical news. We know already that IBM Power11 is on the way. Most possible that we will see the first Power11 systems next year.
We will see new AIX, IBM i, VIOS, and Linux versions with new features. Of course, there will be new OpenShift and Ansible versions.
There will be many changes. Some of them will please us. Some of them will annoy us.
I wish you to be less annoyed by unwanted and unexpected changes and be always optimistic about what the future prepares for us.
I wish you to have fewer problems with technical support. That you don’t need it at all the whole next year.
I wish you to have fewer bugs in the software and the hardware you use.
I wish you to have more time for yourself and your family.
The next year will change a lot. I wish you a very successful 2025!
